Sindisiwe van Zyl who died on Saturday, was a Zimbabwean-born South African physician, radio DJ, columnist, health activist, and researcher known for using social and mainstream media to share HIV-related, mental health, reproductive health, other medical and public health information. She won several awards for her work.
Sindi was survived by her husband Marinus van Zyl and their two children.

She died on Saturday morning 10th April in Johannesburg in hospital.
The 45-year-old had been on a ventilator for a while with her condition having sparked a public outpouring of support.
