Gavin MacLeod was an American actor who died at the age of 90 is best known for portraying Merrill Stubing, the ship’s captain, on ABC’s The Love Boat. A Christian television host and author whose career spanned six decades, he also appeared as a guest on several talks, variety, and religious programs. MacLeod’s career began in films in 1957.

Cause of death

MacLeod died at his home in Palm Desert, California early Saturday on May 29, 2021, his nephew, Mark See, told Variety.
MacLeod’s health had been poor recently but no cause of death was given, the trade publication reported.
