The American musician, Edward Lodewijk Van Halen, who was also a songwriter and guitarist died on October 6, 2020, at the age of 65. He was the main songwriter and guitarist of the American rock band Van Halen, which he co-founded in 1972 with his brothers, drummer Alex Van Halen, bassist Mark Stone, and singer David Lee Roth.

Eddie Van Halen was survived by Janie Liszewski and son Wolfgang Van Halen.

Cause of death

According to Van Halen’s death certificate, issued by the Los Angeles Department of Public Health, and obtained by the US website TMZ, his immediate cause of death was listed as a cerebrovascular accident or stroke.

He died at Saint John’s Health Center in Santa Monica, California on October 6, 2020, at the age of 65 and was surrounded by his wife Janie; son Wolfgang, bassist of Van Halen; ex-wife Valerie Bertinelli; and brother Alex, co-founder, and drummer of Van Halen.
