Billy Joe Thomas was an American singer widely known for his pop, country, and Christian hits of the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s. Thomas died at the age of 78. He made popular recordings of “Hooked on a Feeling”, “Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on My Head”, ” Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song” and “Whatever Happened to Old-Fashioned Love”.

B.J. Thomas was survived by his wife Gloria Richardson with their three daughters: Paige Thomas Erin Thomas and Nora Thomas who was adopted from North Korea in 1978.

Cause of death

On March 23, 2021, Thomas announced on his official Facebook page that he had stage IV lung cancer and was being treated in Texas.

The country and pop hitmaker and five-time Grammy winner  B.J. Thomas, who contributed to the Southernization of popular music in the 1960s and ’70s, died on Saturday at his home in Arlington, Texas. He was 78. The cause was complications of lung cancer, said a spokesman, Jeremy Westby of 2911 Media.
